Our DeBoer Hulls model faithfully captures as much of the detail and hull lines of the real Los Angeles boats as is available. Our model has all the torpedo tubes and torpedo loading doors molded in. Top deck detail is painstakingly scribed and molded to show vents, safety tracks, recessed mooring line stowage, and the towed array bulge characteristic of the LA class subs.
The main hull separates into upper and lower halves to make R/C installation or further detailing as easy as possible. The inside of the hull is reinforced with aluminum strips and angle strips making for a very solid, stable hull. Hull construction is laid up using mat and cloth to give the most durable hull possible. Wall thickness is of .080 or thicker, with a gel coat adding beauty and smoothness to the hull. The dive planes are solid molded resin with brass shafts. The 4 periscope shears are also molded resin and vented so you can attach air vent lines for you ballast tanks. The prop and stuffing box are brass, as well, with a stainless steel prop shaft.
The 1/48 Scale DeBoer Hulls Los Angeles is 90 inches in length and has a beam of 8 inches. Divided upper and lower hull halves allow ample room and accessibility to make R/C installation as easy as possible.
